Recently I made a brooch for a woman who loves airplanes. When I cut from felt the first plane in my life and sewed it with a purple thread on a black square, I remembered how much I like making and wearing brooches. Fall leaves, umbrellas, fat cats, birds, butterflies, vintage phones, doggies, and strawberries. Shapes took out from reality sprinkled with feelings and meetings.

Hand-painted canvas bags by Anna Rychert
Finally is snowing in Galway. I stick my head out the window, the white flakes dance and fall on my face. It very rarely have fluffy winter in Ireland. Today’s snow is also fleeting, I know it is one day, but I am happy as a child of it.

There is a cobalt sky behind the window, and a well-known house with a red door. Colourful lights hung on a curtain rod shine with peace. Its glow is reflected in the chocolate cup saucer.
I take out a small table and blue chopping board on it. Next to it, on the sofa, there are old magazines, extraordinary papers, scraps, and a pencil case with liners, scissors, and glue.

# Le Déluge
Always windy and rainy weather can be depressing, even more if you are alone. When you open yourself to others then you can look at the chilly weather from a creative perspective and become happier with what you have right now.

Ciara Beckers is a young artist and in my opinion artist – pioneer because she explores the thing which nobody seems to notice. Her art is very simple but also a bit of surrealistic. I met Ciara last year at the Tiny Traders Village market. While we met again for an interview, I thought that she has something similar to Salvador Dali who was fascinated with revealing deepest ego.

I placed my favourite spices in the little glass jars with special inscriptions: LOVE (MIŁOŚĆ in Polish) – for the orange saffron, SUN (SŁOŃCE in Polish) – for turmeric, MAGIC (CZAR in Polish) – for black sesame seeds, FOREST (LAS in Polish) – for flax seeds.

When I make paper collages I cut out something from inside me: dreams, emotions, the future. Then suddenly I can walk on a lavender field in a green coat. Heathers grow out of my head. The cat smells like the sun.
Following my imagination, I am looking for what I miss.

– These are not just colourful fabrics, this is my identity, the country I come from, the taste of my childhood.
-so Virtue Shine told me, a fashion designer from Ghana who now sews brightly colored clothes in Galway.
January in Ireland over the wild Atlantic is a burden. Heavy rain, gales, hail, grey colour skies. Meanwhile I enter Virtue’s studio and there I can see hundreds of special fabrics around, each with different patterns and colours. On the hangers are dresses, skirts, jackets, scarves, bags and birds.
– Working with colours here in Galway, where the sky is clouded so often is a great privilege, because the colour is a mood lifter and can preset my day
– says Virtue.

When I make Christmas cards I become a child again.
I see how is snowing at night from my childhood and can hear the creak of wooden floor from the living room. Christmas tree is situated on a sideboard, which my grandfather found after the second war on the Warsaw’s street.
Moment shines, the street is white at night and I am waiting with the nose stuck to the window.
I cut images from the paper, the same, which I have in my memory. Then attach ribbons, buttons, and I wear elks in a crochet scarfs.

I meet Aurélie Vargas in one of the Galway cafes. We sit at the table and she gave me the fabric flower sac where I find: oval face soap, teddy bear shampoo and square body soap with stamped inscription: 100% hand made.
All of them made from natural ingredients, look beautiful in simple colours. I couldn’t imagine before how shampoo can be solid without plastic bottle.
I put them on the table next to our coffees, and Aurélie takes me into the world of her natural cosmetics. She explores it from four years, and she has been making them by herself two years already.
