Humanitas – one of my favorite place in Sibiu

I bring you with reverent hands

The books of my numberless dreams.

W.B. Yeats

There is charming bookshop in Sibiu – HUMANITAS.

It is a very local place but also international. You can find there thousands of books, even in the sinks in the bathroom. People come here to take a moment for themselves, to read a book , to write something, to dream, or have a chat with somebody, who sits at the next table, and have a really good coffee.

In the basment, which has brick walls and arches is a sizeable space for coffee shop among bookshelves.

Also there are many literary events happen, even theatre and various people make important dialogues.

In this sociable place I met Bogdan Dita, who works in the bookshop.

Bogdan found for me an awesome book of poems by Ana Blandiana. I think it is the best souvenir from Romania, for me and my first meeting with Romanian poetry.

I have to admit that this country seems really poetic in my eyes. However not in so sweet way, but in the way, which lets me go deeper to the history, people and myself.

Humanitas has absolutely quaint soul.

I go there almost every day. Sometimes just to have a sip of coffee, some other time I could sit in there, a half day. But with sure if I will leave Sibiu, I gonna miss this bookshop a lot.

By the way “humanitas” is a Latin noun, which means “human nature” and “kindness”.

I think this name is a bull’s eye for the space, which connects various people and favors conversation.

So if you walk by Nicolae Bălcescu  street, which is the main promenade in Sibiu, necessarily drop in Humanitas and make a particular moment for yourself.

Humanitas – jedno z moich ulubionych miejsc w Sybinie

“Przynoszę Ci pełne ręce

Książek z moich niezliczonych snów

W.B. Yeats

Jest w Sybinie czarująca księgarnia.

To bardo lokalne i zarazem międzynarodowe miejsce.

Bogdan znalazł dla mnie książkę z poezją Any Blandiany, ważnej rumuńskiej poetki.
