Memories made in Carlow

On my birthday, I discover a new strand of gray hair and I’m very happy about it because the color matches my April dress perfectly. Kilkenny wakes up from songs sung in The Field Bar. I love you – I keep humming in my rock & roll mind.

There is quite a crowd in front of Cafe La Coco on Sunday morning. Everyone buys blueberry scones, even the dogs beg for crumbs. I eat avocado toast and you eat pancakes with crispy bacon. Then, we take a selfie in the background of “Yesterdays”. And with a bag full of heavenly pastries we go to Carlow. On the roads that wind through spring gardens, I feel butterflies in my stomach. Because we lived in this city 16 years ago and that’s where we met.

A group of young people put dandelions behind their ears, they walk beaming next to the field where you gave me whiskey and chocolate. Although light fog enveloped my glasses, I feel beautiful and young. The Corcoran’s Bar is now blue as your eyes, or that boat on the river Barrow.
