The light of Paul Cézanne

He is a painter, his job is to paint. For himself, for painting, because that is his vocation, because he would not be able to not transform what he sees into the painting works.

– wrote Henri Perruchot in the book “Cézanne”.

This is one of my favourite publications. It made me want to go to Aix-de-Provence, a small town in France, where a boy was born, who at the age of five scribbled with charcoal on the walls of what surrounding him, and people were surprised how realistic it was.

My personal symbol of Wroclaw

There is one place in Wroclaw, Poland, where I always drop in, even if I come to the city for only two days. This point has became my personal symbol of Wroclaw which I miss.

Kawalerka Cafe – is a tiny coffee shop located on Benedytkt Polak street opposite the blocks from postmodern architecture or cosmic blocks as I usually call them, nearby the Grunwald Bridge and my flat where I used to live. The interior is decorated in 60s and  90s style. Not so long ago you could choose a music from tape records and play it on.

On the way through Connemara

The first day of Christmas is gray. I pour coffee into an orange, travel cup and tea into a thermos, wrap four pieces of poppy seed cake. We go to Connemara. Can’t imagine to visit her on Christmas, actually I can’t already imagine to live without her.

Beige hills, raw rocks, wet khaki colorued grasses and white-blue sheep awake me to the authenticity.

There is charming bookshop in Sibiu – HUMANITAS.

It is a very local place but also international. You can find there thousands of books, even in the sinks in the bathroom. People come here to take a moment for themselves, to read a book , to write something, to dream, or have a chat with somebody, who sits at the next table, and have a really good coffee.

In the basment, which has brick walls and arches is a sizeable space for coffee shop among bookshelves.

The roofs in Sibiu have eyes

When I see you I am pierced

by light thrusting through me

from the poem of Lucian Blaga – Romanian poet

Sibiu, the city in the heart of Transylvania delights me with the details every day. When I walk on the cobbled streets, the roofs look at me, because they have eyes.

First meeting with Romania

Belive that a further shore is reachable from here

Seamus Heaney

When I landed in Bucharest was very late, so I was worring a bit how I will get to the city centre, where I had one night accommodation. But to my surprise the ticket office was still open (at 22pm) and I found a bus which took me to the centre of mysterious city. While the ride I was still thinking how I will find the apartment in the middle of the night. Meanwhile I met an angel – local girl, who has led me to my place. She also hugged me and gave warmly wishes, so much needed, when you are alone in foreign country.
